Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the USA and the only one to be elected for four consecutive terms. He was the central figure in world events in the mid-Century and dominant leader of the Democratic Party and American liberalism. Winston Spencer Churchill's 90 years of life almost exactly coincided with the rise and decline of the British Empire. From an era when the sun ever set on a Empire that stretched to the far corners of a globe painted in red, with a young lieutenant that fought in the last great cavalry charge, to his final years in the 1950s as Britain's leader who unwillingly oversaw the return of those far flung lands to their peoples. On becoming Prime Minister on May 10, 1940 from a despondent, ineffectual government, Churchill made a series of inspiration speeches as he rallied a country standing alone against Hitler.
